Leandra Desjardins
Leandra Desjardins is an Assistant Professor (by grant) in Pediatrics at the Université de Montréal and a clinician-scientist at the CHU Sainte-Justine Research Centre (CRCHUSJ). She completed her doctoral studies in Psychology at Vanderbilt University in 2017. She then pursued by clinical and research opportunities in oncology during her residency and postdoctoral fellowship at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
She conducts her research at CRCHUSJ, within the Immune Diseases and Cancers Axis. Her research program focuses on the psychosocial adaptation of children with cancer. Her research has focused on three main areas: 1) improving the assessment of social behaviours in pediatric brain tumour survivors; 2) understanding the links between emotional functioning, executive functions and social competence; 3) developing and implementing innovative psychosocial interventions, including distress screening and family support.
